The Tundra

Tundra comes from the Finnish word tunturia, meaning treeless plain. Tundra is the coldest of all the biomes. The Tundra is a very secluded place.  It is classified a baron, treeless land that does not have a vast variety of animals and is one of the simplest biomes in the world.  The Tundra is restricted to high lattitudes of the northern hemisphere.  The Tundra is always cold which contributes to its lack of a diversity in animal and plant species.  Even weather does not have a wide variety of change on the Tundra.  Precipetation averages around five inches a year, and winter occurs from around six to ten months a year.  These winters are very cold; the average temperature in each month of the winter is 32 degrees farenheit.
